Is it the parents being outdated or the child being rebellious?

In order to accompany our child in studying, our whole family gave up everything in our home country and immigrated to Canada. As time passed, it seemed that our child was gradually integrating into his school, but why has our daily communication with him become increasingly difficult? The methods of education we used in the past seem to have lost their effectiveness. Is it that the child has entered the rebellious phase, or is it that the parents are lagging behind the changes in the environment?
